I had a similar problem I think it's somewhat related to what was brought up in this, although I didn't really follow. What I did to make it work was the following:. On the legend entries (series) section I clicked edit for each series and confirmed they were the right series. I think clicked 'edit' on the Horizontal (category) Axis labels and confirmed it was the correct selection (in my case I had to extend the range to incorporate added data). Once this was complete the values showed up in the horizontal (category) Axis labels and when I selected them it populated my chart. I recognize this is only a work around so if anyone knows the root cause and how to prevent it that would be great. In Excel 2013, select the bar graph or line chart whose axis you're trying to fix.
A two-dimensional line chart is thus not suitable if you want to see all five days. The line for 'Monday' is 'hidden' behind the line for 'Friday'. It is not a bug, but results from selecting this kind of chart for identical data series. Also, check out this question: Excel chart does not show all line feeds. It has a nicely illustrated answer.
Right click on the chart, select 'Format Chart Area.' From the pop up menu. A sidebar will appear on the right side of the screen. On the sidebar, click on 'CHART OPTIONS' and select 'Horizontal (Category) Axis' from the drop down menu. Four icons will appear below the menu bar. The right most icon looks like a bar graph.

A navigation bar with several twistys will appear below the icon ribbon. Click on the 'LABELS' twisty. You can play with the options under here to get your X axis looking how you want.
Original Title: 'Bar Graphs' I am using excel 2008 for Mac and I have been trying to create a bar graph that pulls all the labels on my Vertical Category Axis, but it keeps skipping every other one. I am able to get the information graphed for each item, but the label won't come through for each item. For instance, the graph is being asked to pull data from company a, b, c, d Company A will be labeled with the corresponding data next to it, but Company B will just have the data without any label next to it. Company C will be labeled correctly with the correct data, but Company D will not be labeled.
Is there a way to get this to label every item not every other item? Did you create the Bar graph as per the instructions mentioned in the following article? Make sure that interval between the labels is set to 1 point in the vertical axis. To change the intervals of the Value axis, double click the Value axis you want to adjust The Format Axis dialog box appears. From the Categories list, select Scale The Format Axis dialog box refreshes to display the Scale options To change the minimum value of the y-axis, in the Minimum text box, type the minimum value(1.0) you want the y-axis to display Click OK.
